Testimonials

I take pride in offering fun yet educational art classes to all my students.  Read what some of my satisfied clients have said:

  • "My daughter has taken art with Joy for 4 years and loved it.  She has come home with beautiful artwork in an array of mediums.  Joy is wonderful with helping students develop their own style as well as introducing them to a variety of artistic concepts.  Joy's classes are great for kids who don't get art at school or simply can't get enough art."

    Middle School Teacher

  • "My daughter began taking art classes from Joy a year ago when she was 12 years old.  She had always shown an interest in art and seemed pretty talented at drawing.  A shy girl, she needed to find an outlet for her self-expression.  Art class has become that outlet and has provided her ample opportunities to shine and at the same time, given her much needed confidence and success in her abilities.  As parents, we are very pleased with how these classes have shaped her emotionally, but we are also equally impressed with the content of the classes.  Joy teaches her students how to use all the different art mediums, as she has worked with paints, clay, Indian ink, wood burning, pencil sketching, and possibly more that I'm unable to remember.  My daughter is absolutely thrilled to be starting her second year in art this fall, and we are excited to see all the beautiful creations that she will bring home!"

  • "My daughter started art classes  around the time Joy was just beginning her business.  That was about 4th grade and now my daughter is a freshman in college.  She enjoyed several years of various classes with Joy, and continues to utilize the art skills learned.   She is now majoring in Business with a minor in Graphic Design and Spanish.  She gained remarkable skill and understanding from Joy’s classes, which gave her immense advantages during  her high school years of presentations, projects, science fairs, etc.  I really appreciated all the time, attention, enthusiasm and encouragement Joy generously gave my daughter!  Many of the wonderful art masterpieces still accent our home today!

  • Joy has been teaching my children for over a year now and she is the highlight of the kid's week.  She has made art exciting, informative and encouraging.  It has been a joy to work with her and have her expertise and excitement in our art education.  The children have loved her instruction in all sorts of projects and creations.  I highly recommend Joy as a teacher, educator and as a person.  She has been a blessing to our whole family.

"The past year, my kids have been taking art classes at Joy Lapicki's  art studio. It has been a wonderful experience.   Mrs. Lapicki offers a wide variety of projects. Some of my kids' favorites were the sculpting with plaster, painting on canvas inspired by impressionism, and drawing with Indian ink. "

My boys have loved art class with Miss Joy.  They always return from class excited about what they have created and wanting to get back to do more! They have done pen and ink sketching, still life work, creating stamps and candles, woodburning, self portraits, shading and developing the artist's eye, and even abstract drawing.  My boys (ages 9 and 12) have said things like, "She always thinks of creative projects." and  "I like that we can follow her directions, but do it our own way too."  Miss Joy gives encouraging instruction and unique art projects that both stretch and develop her art students, and we have been so fortunate to be a part of her class and teaching.  Oh, and Miss Joy has also been very flexible in accommodating our sometimes crazy homeschool schedule!

I used to think the following with respect to the arts: if you have the innate talent (if u have "it"), then training is worthwhile. If you dont have it, no amount of training can give you it. Therefore, if you don't have it, then training is not worthwhile. You have shown me my faulty logic: Just because the first 2 premises are true, does not mean that my conclusion follows!
I put my daughter in your class for reasons unrelated to 'art' per se. You taught her art anyway! Among many other related issues, you taught her some fundamental underlying principles of art (you taught her 'artness') and provided an immediate opportunity for her to try out applications ('arting' based on actual 'artness') under kind, attentive guidence (namely, you). Her 'arting' improved as a result!
Additionally, she is now 'art-appreciating' left and right (in particular, in the presence of art created by others, she searches for, marvels at, and wonders about artists' processes), out of which has grown an interest in and curiosity about 'process' in general, as well as a strengthening of empathetic perspective-taking.
So, I just want to thank you and tell you what I have seen and am seeing as a result of you. First, my daughter is actually 'arting' better.   Additionally, she is growing thanks to you. I am growing thanks to you. You 'teach' art, in every and all the implications of the word.

                                      An appreciative mom
